Tim Retzik

Purple Belt (2 stripe)

I became interested in martial arts through Judo as a little kid. I Wouldn’t return to martial arts until I was an adult in my early 30’s. I started training Jiu Jitsu in 2006 in Boulder Colorado at Easton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I took to it immediately and received my purple belt in 2008 from Renzo Gracie Black belt, Amal Easton.

Over the past 10 years I have regrettably found my self away from training for extended periods of time but I always return to it. It has had a profound affect on my life. There is nothing else like it. When people ask me about Jiu Jitsu I always just say, “ Its not what you would think it is.”  I am honoured to to have opportunity to share with people through Fernie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Eerik "Timo" Einola

Brown Belt

Since a young age, Timo has been involved in a wide variety of marital arts including kickboxing, jiu jitsu, judo and boxing. Jiu Jitsu was the one that stuck, and he made it his main focus early on. Originally from Toronto, Timo owes much of his jiu jitsu knowledge from his original gym of Grapple Lab, with whom he earned his brown belt. During that time, he competed and medaled at multiple provincial tournaments and assisted in instructing in several jiu jitsu programs in the city. Since moving to Fernie, he has shifted his focus to instruction. Sharing his passion with jiu jitsu with others and helping them with their own jiu jitsu journey.
